Two Thrashers’ stars got the nod to join the Eastern Confernce for the All-Star game in Raleigh, NC later this month. It was no surprise that the dynamic defensive duo of Dustin Byfuglien & Toby Enstrom were invited after the stellar first half of the season they both have had. These two have been talked about all season, and it looks as if the pick up of Byfuglien may be the team’s greatest move in the 11 year history of the Thrashers.
Dustin Byfuglien…. What can you say? The man leads all NHL defensemen with 16 goals & 41 points(tied with Nicklas Lindstrom of DET). He also leads the NHL with 6 game-winning goals. There’s no doubth that he deserves the invite after he has sparked not only the team, but the city of Atlanta. The crowds have picked up as of late, despite the recent slump, and surely Buff is a big reason as to why. He gives the team so much power, given why he is 2nd in the NHL in shots at 183, trailing Ovechkin.
And then there’s Toby….The 5’10″, 180 pound defenseman from Sweden. He’s by far had his best year as a Thrasher, and it looks like he’s not stopping anytime soon. He’s currently sitting at 8 goals(career high) and 30 assists. Him and Buff on the same line is a reason for concern for any team.
These two have a good thing going on at the blueline and hopefully they’ll continue to dominate, but time will only tell. They have the “A” on their jersey for a reason and have proven that they deserve that recognition. I think I speak for all of Blueland when I say good luck in Raleigh boys!
