An All Star Russian Pair

Featured  for the All-Star game in Raleigh are two forwards on the Eastern conference squad. Both Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin are players that were easily chosen to participate, based on their outstanding performance this season.

The left wing from Russia has made quite a name for himself, to say the least, in his 6 seasons in the NHL.  So far, this season, Ovi has tallied 15 goals and 30 assists, with a +/- 9. Though, it doesn’t look like he’ll reach his 50 goal total from last year, he’s still a very dominant player in the game and the backbone to the Capitals’ franchise.

Another Russian on the Eastern conference squad is Evgeni Malkin. No, he’s not the biggest name on the Penguins(obviously being Crosby), but he’s quite a big guy with an extreme amount of talent. Thus far, this season,  he sits at 15 goals, 22 assists, and a +/- -2. He’s on the right path to surpass his 28 goal total from last year, and who knows, maybe carry Pittsburgh back to the Cup finals.
