One lone Thrasher heads on the road to Raleigh, for the All-Star game on Saturday evening, leaving teammate Toby Enstrom behind due to injury. Dustin Byfuglien will carry momentum from a much needed win last night against Washington into the All-Star break to show off his skills. I don’t think there’s any doubt that majority of the NHL is afraid of “Big Buff“. I know the guy scares the hell out of me and I don’t even have to see him on the ice(thank you Jesus). He heads into the break with 16 goals & 25 assists. He’s been on a bit of a slump lately, along with the rest of the team, but hopefully with the win last night against the Caps, all of the players can get “reBUFFed”.
Byfuglien, in my opinion is the best pickup by the Thrashers in franchise history. The only exception to that may be Ilya Kovalwho, but we don’t speak of him around these parts. He’s brought life to the team and the city of Atlanta. Dustin’s part of a team that holds 20% of the African Americans in the NHL. Me personally, I notice a wider variety of people at the games and I believe part of that is due to the variety of ethnicity within the team. It’s great to see. It’s great to see a bigger, wider fan base in hockey. I’d say that it’s not only Buff’s skill that gets him the vote to be an All-Star, but also, what he’s done for the city of Atlanta, the fan base, and the franchise.
