It’s been a week since I made my first Stanley Cup predictions, and since then, a few things have changed over in the western conference. But have my predictions changed any? Well, let’s see….
Why did I make these changes?
I only made two changes over in the East. while the matchups have stayed the same, I’m had a change in opinion in a couple of them. In the first round, I now have Pittsburgh over Tampa. In the last 10 games, the Penguins have gone 8-2-0, while the Lightning have gone 3-3-4. Even though we’re still unsure as to when Crosby will be back, I still feel their stronger than Tampa without him. The biggest change came in the conference finals. With their recent play, I now have the Caps overcoming the Habs to reach the finals. Just like the Pitt/TB matchup, the past 10 games give me reason to change my pick. Washington has gone 8-2-0, whereas, Montreal is 4-6-0.
The matchups changed quite a bit over in the west. The sliding Blackhawks would now face the red-hot Canucks, and I don’t see them giving any contest. The Canucks are unstoppable lately. Can they carry that momentum through the entire playoffs? I think so, and that’s the reason I have them going all the way, this time around. My initial pick was the Preds going the distance, but I’ve had a change of heart. While they are playing oustanding lately, I feel they may be running out of gas after playing so hard just to make it in. I do still have them going to the conference finals, but to take down Vancouver would be a miracle. I also have the Yotes taking down the Kings in the first round this time. The Kings have suffered two major losses to their lineup in the past week with their top two scorers going down in Kopitar and Williams. While their lineup is still incredible, it’s not enough, in my eyes, to go far.
Well there are my picks again, one week later. Will they change again next week? We’ll just have to see.
