The one who almost made it to 30 goals this season, falling short at 29. The already 2 time Stanley Cup Champion
The 1st round, 4th overall draft in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft has come a long way since his junior hockey years and, as the 8th Captain in Atlanta Thrasher history, Andrew Ladd has earned a place in Thrasher fans hearts forever, as shown with the fan voted MVP award.
Ladd set career high points with 59 overall points, career (and team) high goals with 29. He also racked up a career high 4 game goal streak and a career high scoring streak (6) – both on two separate occasions this season and also managed to score his 200th point in March of this season. On numerous occasions throughout the season, Andrew Ladd showed the leadership qualities needed in a Captain, from start the scoring streak, continuing the streak and setting up the rest of the team for their own goals.
On the immediate horizon, Ladd will be suited up, playing for Team Canada in the IIHF World Championship starting April 29. We will see who else might also be appearing from the Thrashers in the upcoming days.
Andrew Ladd was drafted in 2004. In 2006 he hoisted the Stanley Cup for the first time in his career. By the 2008-2009 season, Ladd was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. In 2010, he hoisted the Stanley Cup for the second time in his career. I have always been a firm believer that the third time’s a charm…
