Hope in Atlanta?

Excitement is brewing in the ATL again as the word gets out that former Braves Pitcher Tom Glavine is currently looking for people to join him to purchase the Atlanta Thrashers. Honestly, I haven’t see the Thrashers name in so many different articles, all basically saying the same thing, only difference this time is the ‘interested party’ has a name.

In 1984, after being awarded the Most Valuable Player for his Merrimack Valley High School Ice Hockey team, Tom Glavine was a 4th round draft pick for the LA Kings in the NHL. Picked before both Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille and behind the likes of Mario Lemieux, Scott Mellanby and Patrick Roy. Instead of moving forward with the NHL, Tom Glavine instead pursued his Major League Baseball, forever changing Atlanta Braves history and walking away with the MVP for the only Atlanta World Series Championship Victory.

The news that anyone is not only willing to say their name out loud as an interested party but almost as a beacon that he is actively looking for partners in the venture, is an amazing light of hope in Atlanta. To be a Braves fan and a Thrashers fan, there are many mixed feelings inside to think of him as one of the new owners. For the Atlanta Thrashers to have, not just a hockey fan but a HOCKEY PLAYER in the ownership group is one of the most elaborate dreams the fans could imagine.

Let’s see how this one plays out. No matter what, anything is better than what we currently have.

Keep The Thrashers
