Is he going to find his big chunk of cheese?
Searching in the gutters of the worn down and practically abandoned Atlanta Thrashers isn’t too bad of a place to start. Who knows if the team is even going to be here next season, why not start picking through the leftovers before they go bad?
Just a short time ago, maybe 2 days after the end of regular season, the Florida Panthers, decidedly following in the Ottawa Senators shoes, fired the head coach, Peter DeBoer after 3 unsuccessful seasons at the helm. Now the Florida Panthers have sparked interest in the Atlanta Thrashers current Assistant Coach, John Torchetti.
John Torchetti never made it to the NHL as a player but has served as Assistant Coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks and Atlanta Thrashers. He has served as interim coach for the LA Kings as well as the Florida Panthers.
GM Rick Dudley has granted permission for the Florida Panthers to talk with Coach Torchetti. In Atlanta, there was often question as to why Ramsay was given the head position over Torchetti and it was more than obvious that there was a definite rift between Torchetti and Baby Bogo, maybe this opportunity will open doors for everyone involved.
