Welcome To Hockey At The Forks

Just over two weeks ago the NHL announced it was returning to Winnipeg. Now Fansided is announcing something just as momentous (first bad joke alert!) a Winnipeg blog here on the network. Because the team doesn’t have a name yet (or official colors I believe) a site logo probably won’t be up in its familiar spot for awhile. But no matter, there will still be a ton of content for you here on the site, which from now on will be referred to as HATF to save my fingers.

Just as an overview, this site will have general news related to the club, some statistical analysis, (hopefully) humorous and entertaining game previews and recaps and a look at the farm teams and prospects in the CHL, college and over in Europe. What it will not feature, and I cannot stress this enough, is a daily argument about southern markets vs. Canadian markets, saying how Phoenix stole our team, saying how Atlanta didn’t deserve one, etc. If 400 people show up to a Coyotes game next March you absolutely can joke about it, but only if you also joke about there being 400 people at some random Red Wings game. I’m all for making fun of other teams, so long as we’re equal opportunity. I can’t say enough how sorry I am that the Atlanta diehards lost their team: I was 9 when the Jets left and thought I would never get over it. It sucks. We here don’t need to make it worse.

Because I am in law school and grad school and also contribute to a couple of other sites, I probably won’t be able to do this alone. So here is what I am looking for:

Someone who knows his or her way around some of the more advanced stats, such as Corsi and Fenwick and the like. I am familiar with them and can reference them, but I am not an expert by any means and that would be a great help.

One or more people who would be willing to do game previews and recaps as well as a daily (or so) links post involving Winnipeg news as well as other Fansided content. That would be a huge help.

If you are interested, or just have something to say, either leave a comment below or you can email the site at hockeyattheforks at gmail dot com or tweet it at twitter.com/hatforks (awesome name, I know).

Thanks for reading, thanks for the support, and Go Jets Go.
