Claude Noel Named Head Coach

In a Friday morning press conference, Winnipeg brass announced the hiring of Claude Noel as their first head coach. Noel previously was in charge of the Manitoba Moose, Vancouver’s AHL team. Before that he coached three ECHL teams and the K-Wings of the IHL. He was the interim coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2010, going 10-8-6 while in charge.

I tentatively like the deal for Winnipeg, though I can’t say I know much about he or Mike Haviland, the other finalist. But TNSE has done everything right so far in this process, so there’s no reason to think they made a misstep here.
