Eagles Sign Garman

via ecachockey.com

The Colorado Eagles, ECHL affiliate of the Jets, have signed Mike Garman, who played for three years at Cornell University. Garman is a native Coloradan, so it is a nice homecoming story for him as well.

Last year was Garman’s best year in a Cornell uni, as he had a .928 save percentage, and his .931 mark in conference games ranked second in ECAC Hockey.

Though Garman wasn’t a high profile recruit, and only has one year of good play under his belt, there’s a chance that he could turn into a guy who can be a cheap NHL backup. In any event it’s nice for him to get a shot to play professional hockey in his home state and it’s a good chance for Jets brass to keep an eye on a young goalie.
