The Jets Measuring Stick Weekend

The Jets have back to back games this weekend and both could be considered measuring sticks under the new head coach! Saturday night the Toronto Maple Leafs invade Winnipeg in a clash of two of the hottest teams in the NHL until Thursday Night.  The Jets had won 4 straight before falling to the San Jose Sharks 1-0, while the Maple Leafs basically saved Randy Carlyle’s job by winning 7 straight before getting blown out by the Dallas Stars on Thursday night in Dallas.

Both teams need to keep winning for the same reason the playoffs.  The Jets defense has been fantastic since the coaching change while Toronto has been red hot as well so it will be a fierce battle come Saturday at the MTS Center.

The second measuring stick comes on the back side of back to back games when the Jets fly into Chicago to face the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.  The Blackhawks have easily handled the Jets this season with fans and bloggers of the team calling them their new Columbus Blue Jackets.  That was under Noel and this is now under Maurice.  If the Jets expect to make a push beating the Ducks in the Conference was very nice, but beating the 1st place team in your own division would be even nicer and a huge confidence builder!

Which game are you looking forward to the most this weekend? Either way by Sunday night we should know if this was a nice week or something to really get excited about for the rest of the year!
