The Winnipeg Jets are a much healthier team after the completion of the Olympic break, with two players expected to start in the lineup on Thursday night, and the other just days away from returning.

Injury: Broken Forearm

Status: Injured Reserve

Halischuk hasn’t been in the Jets’ lineup since December 14th, when he suffered a fractured forearm after blocking a shot. He underwent surgery to repair the injury, and was placed on Injured Reserve the following day. Halischuk is right on time with the expected 6-8 week recovery period, and now that the injury is fully healed, Halischuk has been focusing on getting back in to game-ready mental and physical shape. Head coach Paul Maurice had this to say about working Halischuk back into the lineup:

“I have to clear him, too, and I’m still watching him in practice and have to watch him play. My first reaction is that I liked the way our hockey team was playing prior to the break, so those players get the nod early and then we’ll make adjustments as we go.”

Halischuk was on the Jets’ third line prior to his injury, and will likely slot in there under Maurice.

Possible Return Date: March 1st vs. Predators
