The Winnipeg Jets 3 stars for the week.

Since the Olympic break the Jets have got 4 out of a possible 4 points and gave up a point to the Phoenix Coyotes in a shootout in the 2 games they played this week.

The Jets are playing inspired hockey and since the Coyotes, Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks all lost over the weekend their playoff hopes keep improving.

One more loss by the Stars and Coyotes coupled with a Jets win and the Jets playoff hopes won’t require any help from other teams.  The Jets can be the masters of their own destiny simply by winning games and wouldn’t that be nice going into the final 15 or so games of the season.

It’s not easy picking stars for this team right now because you could go down the lineup and everyone is playing well.

#3 Star goes to Olli Jokinen.  Jokinen scored the winner in the shootout against the Coyotes Thursday and scored a nice one to open the scoring against the Nashville Predators Saturday afternoon.  It was an important goal considering the Jets were in the penalty box 5 times in the first 2 periods.  Jokinen is having a pretty good season at 35 years old and after Finland’s silver medal performance at the Olympics Jokinen has looked consistent and reliable this week.
