The Winnipeg Jets kept themselves alive last night in the Western Conference Playoff Race. The Jets started the game down some bodies, but did not lose any one else during the game. Marc Stuart took a heavy hit and was obviously in some discomfort. He did return to the game, no statement has been released – that could be one to keep your eye on. Devin Setoguchi was left out of the line-up as a healthy scratch – he is not currently injured. The Jets sent Patrice Cormier and Carl Klingberg back down to St. John’s indicating that the roster is moving in a “healthy” direction. Montoya made his 6th consecutive start last night but Pavelec should be ready to make his return any day now.
- Zach Bogosian was absent from last night’s game. He’s been day-to-day for about the last week. He’s missed 3 out of the last 4 games (the exception being Saturday against Carolina). It’ll be nice to have Bogosian back and healthy, in spite of his injury filled year and sub-par performances.
- Ondrej Pavelec was hurt on the 15th of March and has not played since. Montoya has done a good job in relief and personally I’ve really enjoyed watching him. With Pavelec expected to make his return rather promptly it is unlikely we’ll see any of Michael Hutchinson, who has had a solid season in the AHL and could push for an NHL job next year.
- Chris Thorburn was listed as injured on the 15th as well after he blocked a shot. He is listed as out indefinitely, and that prognosis more than likely will not improve. Team officials have confirmed that he has in fact suffered a broken foot and with only 8 games remaining – there is no timeline for his return.
- Center Mark Scheifele went down on March 5th. It’s unlikely that we’ll have Scheifele back at any point in the next 3 weeks. However if The Jets did somehow sneak in to the playoffs, the rookie sensation would be a great addition back into the line-up.
Note: Grant Clitsome is still recovering from successful back surgery and will not see the ice again this year. James Wright was also placed on Injured Reserve – there is no timeline for his return to action.
